Katherine Ahmed was born and raised in New York and converted to the Muslim faith as a teenager. She attended an arts high school in Florida and earned a BA at The New School. Before launching her career as an illustrator, Katherine was the manager of a multicultural Muslim Sunday School in New York City. In 2021, she was awarded the We Need Diverse Books illustration mentorship. Katherine was a contributing illustrator to The Reading Adventure and Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers, and has had her work published in Cricket magazine. Lion on the Inside is her first picture book. Katherine lives in New Jersey with her husband and two daughters.

Chanelle Nibbelink
Chanelle Nibbelink is a Canadian American illustrator from California, currently based in Utah. She has an Honors Bachelor of Illustration from Sheridan College. When she’s not drawing, Chanelle can be spotted rollerblading, practicing yoga, playing ukulele or falling asleep to a book. Chantelle lives in Draper, Utah.
Penny Neville-Lee
Penny Neville-Lee spent her earliest years drawing and making before studying for an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art. She is happiest when surrounded by pencils, chatting to her two children and coming up with ideas for beautiful books. She lives with her family in Manchester, United Kingdom.
Sig Burwash
Sig Burwash is a visual artist working in a variety of media including watercolor, collage, ceramics, animation, illustration and comics. Her work is both imaginative and rooted in her lived experiences, including cabin building, forest stewarding, motorcycling and crewing on a fishing vessel. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, the United States and Europe. Originally from kEluwi’sst (Rossland), British Columbia, she now lives and works in Unama’ki (Cape Breton Island), Nova Scotia.
