Phil Nicholls is an artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Passionate about animals and wildlife, they strive to make non-fiction books fun and engaging for young readers by creating illustrations filled with humor and personality.
Aparna Varma
Aparna Varma is a freelance illustrator, animator and owner of the stationary company Green Bean Studio. She is the illustrator of Pig’s Big Feelings, written by Kelly Bourne. Aparna divides her time between illustrating and working as an animator at Nelvana Studio. Born and raised in India, Aparna also spent many formative years in Botswana, and now she lives in Toronto, Ontario.
Ya-Ling Huang
Ya-Ling Huang was born in Taiwan and received her master’s degree in children’s book illustration in the U.K., where she now makes her home. Ya-Ling writes and illustrates her own stories, and illustrates other picture books, young adult novels and magazines. When she was seven, Ya-Ling decided she wanted to be a storyteller, and she has been creating stories and comics ever since.|In 2016, Ya-Ling’s work was shortlisted for the Bologna International Award for Illustration, highly commended for the Macmillan Prize and awarded second place in Poland’s Katowice “A Well Designed Book” competition. Her published works include This Is the Way in Dogtown and Maps: From Anna to Zane.|And I Think About You is her first book with Kids Can Press. This heartwarming story reminds Ya-Ling of the loving upbringing and unconditional support she received from her own mother. Cinyee Chiu
Cinyee Chiu is originally from Taiwan and now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has an MFA in illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art and has worked on picture books, board games and more. She is an advocate for sustainable living and loves to spend her time creating and working from home.
